Young Professionals Engineering

Course Summary

This course will guide aspiring engineers to gain a better understanding of the engineering industry from commercial and technical perspectives.

Students will understand the different areas of engineering and learn to evaluate the social, economic, and environmental impact of projects in different global contexts. Possible topics areas for each week may include: the principles of design, planning and prototyping, sustainable engineering and the varying roles of an Engineer.

Students will explore the role of engineers, and how they differ from scientists and mathematicians, taking into account the ethical considerations in engineering projects and the importance of innovation.

The real-world Capstone industry project is developed and delivered by Class of Your Own, a UK social enteprise that has inspired young learners to experience the Built Environment through their Design Engineer and Construct (DEC) learning programme. Upon completion of the two-week programme, students will receive a DEC award, which is a Training Qualifications UK and industry-endorsed certificate.

The addition of an exciting and varied activity and excursion programmes embedded in the timetable, ensures students will have a well-rounded and powerful two weeks studying on the Young Professionals course.

What's included

Weekly excursions 2 full days and 1 half day20 hours per weekCourse fees are all-inclusive airport transfers, insurance, meals, entrances to attractions, academic materials, so the only additional costs should be flights and spending money.

Academics & Extracurriculars

• Understand the properties and processing techniques of various engineering materials • Explore the role of engineers, how they differ from scientists and mathematicians, the ethical considerations in engineering projects, and the importance of innovation. • Develop the ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings, understand project planning, and grasp the principles of engineering product development and manufacturing. • Examine renewable energy sources, the future of the energy sector, the development of biofuels, fuel cells and electric cars, and the challenges of creating sustainable and long-lasting products using recycled materials.

Bucksmore Education Frequently Asked Questions
Are airport transfers provided?
Yes, airport transfers are included in our pricing if students are arriving and departing on a Tuesday when their course starts/ends. We can only offer free transfers to/from Heathrow and Gatwick airports, between the hours of 9am-7pm. If students are travelling outside of those parameters, we can arrange a private transfer at an additional cost.
Is course insurance provided?

What supervision is provided?
From arrival to departure, our students are looked after by trained Bucksmore staff. If studying at KCL for instance, even when walking between accommodation and study buildings, students are guided by our staff so they are never roaming alone. How many hours of tuition are provided?
This is course-dependent: Bucksmore English: 20 hours of English tuition per week English Plus: 15 hours of English language, 7.5 hours of ‘Plus’ choice subject Intensive English: 25 hours of English language tuition IELTS Prep: 25 hours of IELTS exam prep Young Professionals: 25 hours of tuition on chosen subject Pre-University: 23 hours of tuition on chosen subject
